More Patients Satisfied with Chiropractic than Drugs for Back Pain

A new national survey by Consumer Reports Magazine found that chiropractic outperformed all other treatments for back pain, and prescription medication rated about the same as deep-tissue massage, Yoga, and Pilates. The findings are detailed in the September 2011 issue of the widely respected consumer magazine.

Used more than any other form of complementary medicine (36%), 65% of Chiropractic-treated consumers reported that the treatment “helped a lot,” greater satisfaction than reported for any other treatment.

Last year the magazine reported similar results finding that chiropractic was also reported to be more effective than physical therapy and surgery.

Besides chiropractic, what else can you do for back pain?

Also, the National Prevention Council in June released “America’s Plan for Better Health and Wellness,” and the plan includes “spinal manipulation” as a way to improve health and wellness.

Our patients should feel confident that a trial of chiropractic should be the first—and not the last—option for managing back pain.

Sincerely,

Rob Leach, DC, MS, FICC, CHES
